After 25 days of being missing, the 15-year-old girl from Kasaragod was found dead along with her 42-year-old neighbor, Pradeep C.K. The police’s passive and delayed investigation has now sparked widespread debate.

On Tuesday (March 11), a division bench of Justices Devan Ramachandran and M.B. Snehalatha strongly criticized the police, questioning,

“When it was confirmed on the second day itself that the missing girl was with a 42-year-old man, shouldn’t POCSO have been invoked immediately?”

“Did the Investigation Come Alive Only After the Girl’s Death?” – High Court’s Harsh Criticism

Instead of acting swiftly, the police relied only on tower locations, phone call data, and passive tracking. Had the investigation been more proactive and efficient earlier, could this tragedy have been prevented?

The family and local residents are angrily questioning the police’s inaction.

“We want justice for our daughter!” – This desperate cry from the girl’s mother is one that the entire society must hear.

The exact cause of death will be determined through postmortem and forensic examinations. However, the family and the public have only one pressing question:

“Who is responsible for this tragedy?”

With widespread public outrage, there is now a growing demand for the High Court itself to monitor the case closely.

“Such Negligence Must Never Happen Again!” – High Court’s Warning

The High Court, after a detailed review, issued a stern warning:

“Such inaction must never happen again. If necessary, the entire investigation system needs to be re-evaluated.”

The tragic death of the 15-year-old girl from Kasaragod has once again raised serious concerns about police efficiency and investigative procedures. A minor was missing for 25 days, yet the police failed to act promptly – a shocking failure of the law enforcement and public safety system.

This is not just an individual tragedy but a reflection of a deeply flawed investigation system. The final question remains:

“Will justice be served? Will those responsible be held accountable?”

Our legal and investigative systems must learn from this incident.

A tragedy like this must never happen again!
